Amazon Books opens next week in Lynnfield

Amazon.com Inc. plans to open its second Massachusetts bookstore next week in Lynnfield, the sixth location for the online retailer’s foray into brick-and-mortar retail.

The Amazon Books store at Lynnfield’s MarketStreet shopping center will open April 18, the company said Wednesday.
Amazon opened its first East Coast bookstore, at Dedham’s Legacy Place, in February. Both malls are owned by WS Development, based in Chestnut Hill.

Like Amazon’s other bookstores, the Lynnfield location will offer titles selected in part by reader ratings and pre-orders, along with Amazon’s own array of consumer electronic devices, including the Echo virtual home assistant.

Amazon plans to open additional bookstores in California, New York, New Jersey, and Washington state. Its first location, in the company’s hometown of Seattle, opened in 2015.
