Hyde Park Village Moving Forward with Next Phase of Redevelopment

Description of future redevelopment plans for Hyde Park Village

The Boston-based owners of Hyde Park Village are moving forward with the next phase of redeveloping the property — one of the most significant changes yet to the South Tampa shopping district.

WS Development has asked the city of Tampa to determine whether its plans for Block H — the building along Snow Avenue that is home to Nature’s Table — represent a substantial change from plans originally approved for the property.

If the city’s Development Review and Compliance staff determine that the developer’s plans are not a substantial change, the proposal is not subject to a public hearing and city council approval.

WS first announced plans to redevelop that block in October 2014. In November, the group confirmed that Meat Market, a Miami steakhouse, would anchor the redevelopment — a new two-story building with a rooftop lounge.

Filing the request with the city adds credibility to those plans, signaling that WS is laying the groundwork for the next phase.

WS has already made significant progress with the overhaul of Hyde Park Village. The storefronts on Swann Avenue, where Goody Goody, On Swann and several other retailers are setting up shop, have been completely transformed.

The developer has also brought in several tenants new to the Tampa market, including bartaco, Paper Source and Sur La Table. Suitsupply, The Shade Store, Vineyard Vines and Kendra Scott are slated to open in the coming months as well.
