Royal Poinciana Plaza in Palm Beach is new home to fashion and lifestyle brand Hill House Home
Palm Beach shoppers can thank Nell Diamond’s mother for one of the island’s newest retail destinations for fashion and beauty.
When the New York City-based entrepreneur was considering expansion locations for Hill House Home, her 7-year-old fashion and lifestyle brand, her mother, Jennifer Diamond, had a suggestion.
“My mom was saying to me that Palm Beach was at the top of her list for opening a store, because she wanted to shop there,” Diamond said. “This is really a gift for my mom.”
Hill House Home, which also has locations in Nantucket and New York City, debuted Jan. 26.
One of three female-owned businesses at The Current, a new retail incubation concept at The Royal Poinciana Plaza, Hill House Home offers bedding, bath, accessories and apparel.
Diamond launched the brand in 2016 as a direct-to-consumer bedding and home business, and has grown it to include fashion, accessories and shoes.
The brand, which has been featured in Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue and other fashion publications, is best known for its Nap Dress, a loose-fitting, flowy dress that can be worn in the home, at the office or on the town.
“The Nap Dress is a dress that you can wear all day long,” said Diamond, a mother of three who worked as a fixed -income analyst at Deutsche Bank in New York before founding Hill House. “You can wear it to sleep, you can wear it out to dinner, and you can wear it to work. It’s that kind of versatile, dress-up, dress-down piece of clothing. It’s what we’re best known for.”
Home’s new, 1,010-square-foot location at 150 Royal Poinciana Plaza in Palm Beach, but there are plenty of other featured pieces at the store, including the brand’s latest apparel collection and some best-sellers from previous collections, Diamond said.
Ready-to-wear, shoes, accessories, and children’s items are available in-store, while the location also will feature exclusive items such as the Elizabeth Nap Dress in strawberry daiquiri Sherwood Forest, the Enzo Dress in daiquiri breeze raschel knit, and the Lou Lou Duster in daiquiri breeze raschel knit.
Her mom’s endorsement sealed the deal.
“It’s always been a dream of mine to open in Palm Beach,” Diamond said. “I’ve been visiting my aunt and uncle, who live here. For years, they’ve really introduced me to the area. We’ve been working hard to make this happen for years, and we’ve finally found the perfect space.”
Hill House Home joins two other women-owned businesses, La Vie Style House and minnow, at The Current, which Royal Poinciana Plaza operator WS Development launched in 2018 as a retail incubation concept.
The idea was to create more flexible and experimental opportunities for retailers and brands, said Carina Donoso, senior director of Retail Experience and Incubation for WS Development.
“Our mission was to illuminate incredible female-owned businesses and give them a platform within a growing and bustling neighborhood,” she said.
Diamond, who holds a master’s in business administration from Yale’s School of Management and developed Hill House Home through the school’s entrepreneurship program, said she is grateful for that platform.
“I’ve been such a big fan of the development that they’ve been doing there,” she said of The Current. “It’s so thoughtful and innovative. We’re really excited to be around so many others thoughtful brands. It kind of felt like the perfect spot, so when the opportunity came up, we jumped on it.”
Diamond plans to continue expanding Hill House Home, with stores planned for Charleston, South Carolina, and London.
For now, however, she’s focused on her busy New York City and Nantucket stores and her new location in Palm Beach.
Hill House Home is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. For more information, visit www.hillhousehome.com.
