Time Out Boston

Shop these new Black owned shops in the Boston Seaport

The Current in the Seaport has a whole new group of retailers. This season all nine businesses are Black-owned, small businesses. The Boston Seaport partnered with Black Owned Bos. and curated a collection of businesses spanning the skincare, food, fashion and lifestyle spaces. So swing by the Seaport for some shopping this weekend and while you’re at it be sure to check out our top picks for Seaport restaurants, many of which are also our favorite patios in Boston!

Who are the new brands at the Current?

Apart from the Little Cocoa Bean Company, which has been a member of the Current since Spring 2022, Brown and Coconut, Caked, Centerpiece Flower Shop, Hip Baby Gear, Lifebloom, Nüssli118, Tafari Wraps and The TéSpa all are new joiners.

According to Carina Donoso, Senior Director of Retail Experience & Incubation, at WS Development, “We are grateful to Black Owned Bos. for continuing to partner with [the Boston Seaport] in ways that are meaningful to so many talented Black entrepreneurs and emerging brands. As we celebrate National Black Business Month, we are thrilled to launch this special edition of The Current, and we know shoppers will be delighted to discover all they have to offer.”

The Current offers Bostonians and visitors a chance to experience many local, digital-first brands in person. The shops are located in the heart of the Seaport, making them a convenient stop during a lunch break or before a night out at one of the many restaurants and bars.

“Black Owned Bos. is excited to support The Current Season 9 and about the opportunity to collaborate with WS Development on their signature retail incubator in the Seaport. Impactful support and wraparound services are crucial to success as a small business,” says Jae’da Turner, Founder & Managing Director Black Owned Bos.
