The Current

A recipient of Fast Company’s Innovation by Design Award in the Retail Environments category, The Current is a novel approach to pop-up retail, visioned by WS and designed by Brooklyn-based architecture firm nArchitects. Conceived to reflect a “micro-urban identity,” the collection is comprised of nine small, freestanding structures located along Seaport Boulevard and Seaport Common in Boston’s Seaport District. The Current stays true to the new-and-next ethos of the neighborhood by creating unique opportunities for online-only and direct-to-consumer brands to dip a toe into brick-and-mortar and immerse themselves in a diverse community of forward-thinking residents, employees, and visitors. Since its launch in 2018, The Current has hosted dozens of retailers, ranging from ecommerce heavy-hitters like Glossier and Beauty Counter to beloved local brands like Booty by Brabants and Sh*t That I Knit.
